“March 8th is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.”
We have come SO far in the way of gender equality, especially here in Canada! Today is a day to celebrate that journey and where it has led us. The actions our mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers (and fathers) took so that we can do things like drive a car, vote, wear pants, maybe be the Prime Minister?!
On a day to day basis gender equality is something most of us take for granted, but are very grateful.
I thank you, my kids thank you, TOL thanks you, xoxo
Did you know it has been estimated that it will take another 117 YEARS for full gender equality in the world??? Year 2133 is a long time from now.
In some parts of the world (India included) parity for the sexes has a long way to come. Globally, if women and men join forces to work together, we can accelerate that number and see a gender equal world. What actions will you take?
Every one of us can make a difference.
This International Women’s Day and Pledge for Parity are so near and dear to Tribe of Lambs. We are young women (and Phil) working hard to spread love, ignite passion and empower youth in India… One Ring, One Heart. We strive to have the youth we work with, girls and boys, know they are loved and capable of achieving their dreams; whether it be through literacy, extra education or basic needs.
Every girl deserves an equal chance to fulfill on what matters to her, just like every boy.
What festivities are going on in your neighbourhood? Join the party!
On March 8th, while you are out celebrating women’s equality- how far it’s come, and the distance yet to go- please take a minute to post on social media and raise some awareness with “hashtags”! Tag @tribeoflambs as we LOVE to see how the Tribe is making a difference across the globe! xoxo
